FAQ

WHAT AGE RANGE IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE MUSEUM?

Our main exhibits will have toys from the 1800s all the way through the new millennium, so no matter their age, our guests are almost guaranteed to see something from their own childhood. While the Houston Toy Museum is not technically a children’s museum, we have added an interactive play space where younger children can have some fun. Most of our exhibits will showcase vintage toys behind glass and while we hope that the kids will enjoy seeing and learning about the toys their parents and grandparents played with, we understand that it isn’t fair to make them look at a bunch of toys they can’t touch without giving them a change to play! Our interactive play space will have a soft play area for toddlers, giant games, and activities for older children, and even some interactive fun for the adults.

CAN I BRING MY STROLLER?

Our main exhibits are located on the second flood, which is accessible only by stairs. We understand that you may have your stroller with you since we are located on such a walkable street so we have a limited area by the stairs for you to “park” your stroller while you visit the upstairs exhibits. If it is possible, we encourage visitors to leave their strollers in their cars.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

There are free parking spots, as well as parking lots, up and down our street and neighboring streets. If you have to park a few blocks away take advantage of the chance for a nice walk and do some window shopping on your way to the museum!

CAN I PLAN A GROUP VISIT?

Yes! Email us at info@houstontoymusuem.com to schedule a group visit.

ACCESSIBILITY

Unfortunately our location is not ADA accessible at this time. Our building was originally constructed in the 1940s and with that comes challenges in creating a completely accessible space. Our main exhibits are on the second floor, which at this time is only accessible by stairs. While it is our desire to welcome anyone into the museum, we understand that this could pose challenges for some and we hope to be able to invest in making our space more accessible in the future. If you have any questions about accessibility, please feel free to contact us at info@houstontoymuseum.com.

MUSEUMS FOR ALL

As part of Museums for All, we are proud to offer discounted admission to those presenting their SNAP EBT cards in person. We understand that the cost of museum admission can be a barrier to many low-income families and we want to be a part of encouraging individuals of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits.

How it Works: Simply come in during our normal business hours, present your SNAP EBT card and valid ID, and receive $3 entry per person for up to 4 family members.
